“Women’s Shelters remain the safest place for women, children, and seniors facing family violence of any kind. It is critical for the community to know that Capella Centre is fully operational throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and that Capella Centre staff strictly adhere to all public health directives and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID -19. Safety of our staff and all individuals that access our services are our priority. Staff are fully trained to continue to deliver trauma-informed services while adhering to all public health precautions and directives.
Individuals and families experiencing family violence do not have to go into a shelter to get help, Capella Centre offers outreach services to help with risk assessment, safety planning and support accessing resources. Further, families may be facing additional barriers brought on by the pandemic, the “stay at home” order can be especially stressful if home is not safe.
